PROBLEM: Client wishes to combine two (or more) liquid ingredient streams for a continuous process. The blended product then flows directly to filling equipment. Throughput requirements will vary throughout the day, according to the quantity of fillers drawing on the product stream.
SOLUTION: Utilizing Mass Flow, Mag Meters, Vortex or other accurate digital meters on each of the ingredient streams, volume related pulse signals are fed into the Ratio Blending Control System. The Ratio Blending System monitors the flow of the main ingredient stream, and additional ingredients are introduced in precise ratios to the main stream. The digital ratio control components regulate the "add" streams with variable speed pumps or proportional control valves. Since the digital ratio control is reading a pulse stream related to flow, and maintains zero accumulated error, the ratio of ingredients is as precise as the meters themselves. Actual blending of the streams varies from product to product. Some yogurt manufacturers prefer to blend the fruit and yogurt streams, while others prefer the components retain their individual appearance in the container. Some chemical mixes might go through a homogenizer, while others might chemically react in a static blender and then flow through a settling tank.
BENEFITS: This system can be used for explosive products, dairy products or anything in between. The final product can be packaged in a liquid form or in-line kiln dried and bagged. Since the process is continuous, and throughput can be varied, sales cycles can be easily accommodated. Labor is a fraction of that required for a batch operation and related cleaning. The capitol expenditure for the equipment is put to better use since the equipment is always in production. Various product requirements can be stored and easily downloaded into the system.
