PROBLEM: A water utility company needed to transfer their water supply to new districts. Water pressure is normally held to around 70 PSI for household use. Rather than install a water tower, a closed system was chosen. The conventional method for maintaining pressure is to size the pump slightly larger than maximum demand and bleed-off excess pressure with a back-pressure control valve. High demand is met with additional pumps and telemetry. The problem with this system is wear of the pressure control valve, pump cavitation, and energy consumption. The water tower alternative has a high initial cost and ongoing upkeep costs.

Digital Pump Master · Pressure Control · Flow Control / Pressure · Production / Pressure · Cavitation Protection · Reduced Plant Operating Costs
A NEW STANDARD
EAI's multipurpose pump master answers the need for fully automatic pump control in dynamic water systems. It is ideally suited to applications that are difficult to manage with SCADA or manual operation alone. The PM5000 system can handle booster or production sites with single or multiple pumps. The system holds output to +/-1% of set point during normal demand and -3% of set point during emergency demand (in pressure control only application).

THE PM5000 DIFFERENCE
The PM5000 is more than a PID controller; it understands the dynamics of the system it serves. In booster applications it will contain a database of pump curves for the pumps it controls. This information, in combination with inlet, outlet pressure and flow input, make it possible for it to determine optimum pump operation speeds to meet system requirements. Knowing the pump curves also makes it possible to eliminate cavitation by keeping pumps within operational limits.

The PM5000 offers you the best of both worlds. It combines the simplicity and convenience of industry standard components with programmable flexibility to fill the needs of your unique application. It's fully field configurable so it can be adjusted if the site requirements change. You will find it uncomplicated and easy to use.
The PM5000 speaks SCADA and can be setup to appear as an RTU to your SCADA system. Numerous protocols are supported.
